Who is Blue Star Labradoodles?
Hello! My name is Katie Kuiper, and in June of 2025, I became the proud owner of Blue Star Labradoodles, which has been bringing joy to families since 2005.
My love for animals began long before I ever dreamed of raising Australian Labradoodles. I grew up surrounded by cats and dogs and was the one in my family who couldn't resist stopping to say hello to the neighbors' horses and cows on country walks. I've brought home stray kittens, injured birds, snakes, and more. That love for animals has never changed, and to this day, I still have to remind myself that I can't bring every animal home with me!
In 2018, my mom—Carol's "Professional Puppy Photographer"—asked if I would help photograph one of Blue Star's eight-week-old litters. The very next day, I was working full-time for Carol, and I've been immersed in every aspect of raising Australian Labradoodles ever since. From carefully selecting breeding pairs and assisting with whelping to raising, socializing, and training puppies, it quickly became clear that this was exactly where I was meant to be.
Eight years later, it still amazes me how intelligent these puppies are and how much love and personality can fit into such little bodies. Every litter reminds me why I fell in love with this breed. While I truly believe every dog has something special to offer, the Australian Labradoodle's natural desire to be close to its people is what captured my heart. They don't just become pets; they become cherished members of the family.
My own family is living proof. We have five Blue Star dogs who have fully earned their place in the Kuiper family. (They might even receive almost as much attention from Grandma and Grandpa as the human grandkids!)
I am completely hands-on with every puppy I raise. During their time with me, they are loved, nurtured, and introduced to a variety of people, sounds, environments, and experiences to help build confident, well-rounded companions. They often join me in everyday activities whenever it's safe and appropriate—after all, who wouldn't want an excuse to show off these adorable puppies?
My goal has always been to place health and temperament hand in hand. I want every Blue Star puppy to grow into more than just a wonderful pet. My hope is that each one becomes a lifelong companion who brings comfort, laughter, and unconditional love to the families they join.
How It All Started
Blue Star Labradoodles began in 2005 by Carol A. Stover and her first Labradoodle, Abby. After welcoming Abby's first litter, Carol fell in love with the entire process of breeding and raising puppies. Her research soon led her to the Australian Labradoodle, a breed developed in 1989 for its allergy-friendly coat, intelligence, and exceptional temperament. She welcomed her first two Australian Labradoodles into her program, and over the next twenty years devoted herself to breeding healthy, loving companions for families across the country.
In 2024, Carol made the heartfelt decision to slow down and enjoy a well-earned retirement from the demanding work of raising puppies. She now serves as a trusted consultant, and I am incredibly grateful to continue the Blue Star legacy she built with so much care and dedication.
It is an honor to carry forward Blue Star Labradoodles' mission of "Bringing Joy to Families One Puppy at a Time." I look forward to helping many more families welcome a healthy, happy, and loving Australian Labradoodle into their homes for years to come.
